Overview of eVA:

  • eVA is a web-based eProcurement tool that is designed to facilitate, integrate and streamline the entire procurement process from your desktop PC to supplier and back.

  • eVA enables speed and convenience in the purchasing process. For example:
    • Once all approvers have approved a requisition, the order can be electronically submitted to vendors and buyers.
  • eVA is the future of procurement for the Commonwealth and Christopher Newport University, providing not only a comprehensive and secure purchasing environment, but also the integration of capabilities to carry a purchase from requisition to order, through the supply chain to receiving, and finally to payment.

  1. What is eVA?
    The Commonwealth of Virignia's electronic procurement web site.
  2. Are eVA and Banner the same?
    No, eVA is the program used for purchasing. It interfaces into the Banner finance program.
  3. Do I have to use eVA?
    Yes. The Commonwealth of Virginia, the University and WIMS have determined that all purchases must be entered into the procurement system in order to create encumbrances for more effective budget management.
  4. Are there any exceptions to the required use of eVA?
    eVA is not required when purchasing with endowment/Foundation funds. For other exceptions, see the eVA Exclusions page.
  5. Do I need a password to use eVA?
    Yes.
  6. Can I use my University Mastercard purchase charge card with eVA?
    Yes, when ordering from vendors who accept the card.
  7. How does eVA get my Mastercard information?
    After logging into eVA, click on "Preferences" at the top of the eVA Knowledge Center screen. Then click on "Manage PCard Information." Enter your information here and updated as needed.
  8. Do I have to use the vendors in the eVA database?
    Yes, the Governor has mandated the use of eVA-registered vendors.
  9. What if the vendor I want to use is not registered?
    You must select an eVA registered vendor for your purchase or ask the unregistered vendor to register in eVA (opens in a new window).
